Club President's Message

A Message from Gabe Millar

2023/24 Club President

Thank you for taking a moment to learn about Rotary; it could be one of the most rewarding things you ever do.

I joined Claremont Sunrise Rotary in 2019 to give back to my community, network with business leaders, and develop new friendships. Rotary has provided me with personal growth and professional opportunities that I never expected, but for which I am incredibly grateful. For the past several years, I have served as the Race Director for our signature annual fundraiser, the Claremont Turkey Trot. It is a 1k kid's fun run and a 5k run/walk held each year on Thanksgiving morning.

During this Rotary year, our international theme is “Create Hope in the World.” Rotary International President Gordon McInally wants us look inside ourselves and work with each other to continue to do the type of projects that change lives and create more hope. You can learn more about Rotary International at rotary.org.

Locally, our club has been a leading advocate for youth development through our leadership and connections within the community. We are an active participant in many community service projects, and also sponsor programming that meets our guiding principles such as the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. Together with Rotary International and several other Rotary Clubs worldwide, we recently raised almost $300,000 for projects that will support mothers and children who have been displaced by the war in Ukraine. Lives are being saved and changed for the better as a result.

Rotary brings together people across generations who wish to create lasting change in the world, in their communities, and in themselves. Our members have the chance to develop skills like public speaking, project management, and event planning. We meet interesting people from our community and around the world. And we tackle important local and international issues.

As this year's Club President, I'm proud to be part of such a great organization. This is your invitation to take action and help make things better.

Sincerely,
Gabe Millar
